You do not only get to see barbeque competitions and body building contests happening everywhere but all kinds of contests are there; pretty much anything you can imagine of. American Idol can be taken as an example of one of the most popular contests going on today; it is considered to be a reality show since millions of voters vote to choose the winner. If we talk about the list of contests and their types then the list might never end but have you thought about what really makes them interesting? Why are they everywhere today?
Talking about the most famous and in demand contests going on now include model competitions, business plan contests, mega million lotteries, sales contests, video contests, photo contests, writing contests, and a few more. Contests are used by various companies to get their brand some more exposure and remind the public again that what they basically are for. Providing incentives to people in another big reason why contests take place. For instance, several give aways’ take place so people can sign up for various things like news letters or get into surveys etc.
A contest can never be successful without some solid pre-planning like having the exact goals in mind that need to be established. These goals will specify what type of a contest should take place and if the planning is right then the profits will be much higher. For instance, whether a contest should have general population entries, high skill levels, or pure chance? Secondly, a contest will never be good enough if its structure is not strong and the rules are not easily cleared up. Also, in the end the prize money or whatever is the winning thing should be attractive enough so several entries can come in when the contest begins.
A buzz is something very important to create if you want your contest to be successful. Audience participation needs to be encouraged in more then one ways. Taking American Idol as an example; may be it is so successful because anyone and everyone can vote in for their favorite stars. A worthy and excellent contest can only take place when you are offering stuff and not asking for anything. Many times there are contest where people have to buy in first or give something; such contests are often failures since no one trusts brands that easily today. Authentic contests will always be giving out stuff from the beginning till the end.
